Sonic is spreading through the city like fog on a summer day, but they kept running into people that were interested, but hesitant about fiber and how the installation would work. With Sonic’s help, we developed a concept and after spending a few afternoons cruising the Sunset and Outer Richmond, had mapped out a very, very packed single day of production. Our brave, volunteer talent include friends and actual Sonic employees.
This project brought us back to our roots of scrappy, run-and-gun documentary-style production. We shot the driving scenes hand-holding a $35k camera package outside the back window (don’t tell our insurance!). We sent Martin (who’s terrified of heights) 20’ up in the Sonic truck bucket positioned on top of a hill for all the “jib” shots. We called in a few favors, and squeezed every penny out of the budget and we’re happy with what we were able to accomplish.
